Great Ideas 2020 Conference Recap

We had a great time connecting with educators and administrators from the great state of Texas at the Texas Council of Administrators of Special Education (TCASE) Great Ideas Conference! It’s always inspirational to meet folks who are so dedicated to improving education for all students.

Congratulations to the winners of our raffle! These educators each went home with a brand new TouchNumerals Computation Set.

After a few days of reflection, we’ve identified our top three takeaways from Great Ideas 2020:

Inclusion is growing, and there’s a need for a wider variety of resources to serve push-in students who are at different levels.

Educators strive to personalize content for every student in a classroom, especially students who need additional support in their learning. Our Above+Beyond Learning Progression Workbooks for Multiplication and Division can help push-in students quickly get back on track with key math concepts. If you’re looking for ways to engage your push-in students, consider pairing our manipulatives with hands-on activities!

On-demand tools and training are critical resources for busy educators.

No one should need to take time away from classroom instruction to focus on professional learning. That’s why on-demand tools and training opportunities are so important! Our professional learning seminars are fully customizable and can be delivered via webinar. We also offer a series of free training videos on our website. Effective math instruction must center on arrays, number bonds, and learning progressions.

Using research-backed, proven approaches can help math

educators focus on strengthening student’s understanding of mathematical concepts leading to deeper learning. The right tools can help students see that numbers can be broken down into pieces making computation easier and more automatic. Challenges in the math classroom become dynamic. In this video, math educator Sam Wertheim explains the power of learning progressions (which are at the core of our resources).
